Time to market

At the current pace of change in the electronics business Time to Market is critical for a business. If a development project slips it's schedule by a few weeks or months there may be no point in continuing.  Tom Peters use to say "Ready, Fire, Aim" and this concept still makes sense.

Short time to market requires rapid prototyping and fast assembly turnaround.

For smaller projects this is certainly possible.  There are shops such as *** or *** to whom you can email your design and receive completed boards back within two days.  If you are already speeding your development process by using the "second spin assumption"  this rapid assembly can additionally reduce your time to market.

Happy, successful customers pay better and you don't waste so much money on legal fees.
