Profiting from going digital

That stack of old negatives I mentioned on the previous page can be digitized to 1544 x 1024 pixels for $0.29 each.  I could do it myself with a $100 scanner, but I think my time is worth more than that.  The scanner service has the equipment to scan more negatives in an hour than I could do in a day so I can get sales started sooner.

These old negative become my film library and I have images from everywhere I have traveled in the last 30 years.  Not bad for a startup.

I have noticed in the past that "real" people search differently than the internet aware population.  They are also much more likely to click on AdSense ads.  There is no way I am going to get a domain name like photos.com or images.com.  Those were taken long ago by the big boys.  Do "real" people search for "photos"?  Maybe some do, but lots of them search using terms like "picture of a rainbow".  Those kinds of keyword domains are still available and I bought several.

When I research the competation for terms like that I find the competing websites are very weak.  It should be possible to rank well for those terms without a lot of work.

My efforts to sell pictures are still a work in progress but I will return here and describe my success or lack thereoff later.
